Road to Salvation

This child is alone
or so he believes
He’s got Stockholm syndrome
and he can’t let go, of a world so cold
Devoid of soul
This child
The Wanderer
Lost in the wilderness of bitterness
Lost in a world of doubt

This child is something more
Certainly not in the eyes of the world
that cast him down
But he’s something to behold

Standing on a hilltop
The wind to his back, the sun in his eyes
Far from him salvation lies

The terrain is rough and the costs are high
But how many times do you get the chance
to be all you can be before you die?

He walks down the road
that has never been traversed
He wants to think of the words
not often spoken in verse
He wants to feel like he’s dying
so he can learn how to live
He wants to love
so he can lose and know how to win

He’s melancholy in his infinite sadness
He walks through the tunnel
amidst all the madness

He hits the blacktop
with the soles of his shoes
Scales the mountain high
he’s done playing the fool

Standing on a hilltop
The wind to his back, the sun in his eyes
Far from him salvation lies

The terrain is rough and the costs are high
But how many times do you get the chance
to be all you can be before you die?

Far from him in the distance
The road to salvation lies
